Laser Gum Disease Treatment
Periodontal (gum) disease is a progressive condition that affects over half of all Americans. When caught early by your dentist, or with proper cleaning at home, this is a fairly preventable disease. However, many people don’t even know they have this disease as the symptoms can seem commonplace or not show up at all. At the beginning stages of periodontal disease, called gingivitis, a simple deep cleaning by your dentist can remove the infection, but if left untreated, the disease can advance to periodontitis and advanced periodontitis. In this stage, gum disease becomes incurable and can only be controlled with routine periodontal maintenance visits. At Advanced Dentistry, we offer gum therapy to treat periodontal disease in all forms by utilizing state-of-the-art laser dentistry with the WaterLase® iPlus™ and EPIC™ X dental lasers.
Gentle Laser Therapy
We use dental lasers to give our patients a minimally invasive option to treating gum disease. Traditional treatment involves scalpels, sutures and usually requiring a lengthy recovery period for patients. With our dental laser technology, we can eliminate the disease-causing bacteria and restore gum and bone health. This process is usually less painful, causes minimal bleeding, and has a quicker recovery time than traditional treatment. When using laser therapy, the bacteria is gently eliminated around the tooth roots and in infected gum tissue. Plaque and tartar buildup is carefully scrapped away and healthy gum tissue and bone is stimulated for continued growth. Depending on the severity of your case, we can normally treat gum disease in just one visit and you can be back to normal functions that very day.
