Dental Implants Restore Function and Appearance to Your Smile
If you are missing teeth it is important to get them replaced as soon as possible. Missing teeth not only affect the appearance of your smile, but they can also create many health concerns as well. One of the biggest concerns is the loss of jaw bone volume. When your jaw bone is no longer stimulated by the tooth root, it begins to recede, causing a change in your facial appearance (a more aged, sunken-in look), and can cause your surrounding teeth to shift, become loose, or even fall out. To prevent the negative effects caused by tooth loss and restore your smile, Advanced Dentistry offers state-of-the-art dental implants. Considered to be the gold standard of tooth replacement, dental implants provide all the functional and aesthetic benefits of a natural tooth.
Our Dental Implant Process
When you come in for a consultation with Dr. Varghese John, we will provide honest feedback on what options would be best to restore your smile. Our process for placing dental implants first involves a CT scan with our Gendex GXDP-700™ machine, which will allow us to see a detailed view of your jaw and surrounding structures, such as nerves, tooth roots and jaw bone volume. With this information, we are able to judge whether you may need a bone graft or ridge augmentation to restore lost bone volume. Dental implants require adequate bone volume to be successful and be held in place firmly.
Once the bone graft has healed and you have adequate bone volume for implants, we can proceed with the process by taking an impression of your new jaw structure. Using this information, we will create a surgical guide, which provides Dr. John with a more precise, safe and predictable outcome when placing dental implants within your jaw. Surgical guides allow us to be as minimally invasive as possible when performing surgery, and most patients only require local anesthesia to block pain and numb the surgical site. We trust in the MIS brand of dental implants due to their durability, predictability and longevity for your lifelong smile.
Getting Dental Implants Can Have Long Lasting Benefits
We will have a skilled dental lab create a natural-looking and functional dental crown to restore your tooth while your jaw heals from the surgery. Dr. John uses screw-retained dental crowns instead of cement held restorations to provide him with more control during crown restoration and to allow for easy repair should you damage the tooth. We always encourage patients to invest in a night guard to wear while sleeping, which prevents breaking, chipping, or grinding on your implant investment at night.
With a dental implant, you can expect many life-changing benefits, including:
- Permanence with proper care
- Strong, stable bite
- Improved appearance
- Prevent jaw bone loss
- Eat and taste your favorite foods
- Improved speech
