Are you searching for a dental prosthetic to replace the entire row of your top or bottom teeth? Then it’s time to consider All-on-4® dental implants, which have most of the benefits of traditional dental implants that replace each tooth but have less num

Over 36 million people in the United States have lost all their adult teeth. Tooth loss affects your physical, psychological, emotional, and social well-being. It also changes the structure and strength of your jawbone, your appearance, plus the ability to chew and enjoy certain types of food. Dentures are a popular choice for replacing missing teeth, but not your only option.

At Advanced Dentistry in Sugar Land, Texas, our skilled implant dentist, Dr. Varghese John, offers the All-on-4® dental implant to restore smiles and improve overall health and well-being.

What are All-on-4 dental implants, and how can they help you? Here, we want to explain.

About All-on-4

Dental implants are the gold standard treatment for replacing missing teeth because they function like natural teeth. With traditional dental implants, we place a titanium post (a prosthetic tooth root) into the jawbone for every tooth you’re missing.

All-on-4® is a protocol of Nobel Biocare® Dental implant company that allows the replacement of a full arch of teeth with fewer implants than the number of teeth being replaced. Unlike traditional dental implants, All-on-4 uses only four titanium posts to replace the entire top or bottom row of teeth, instead of five, six, or more implants required when using other dental implants. Your Implant Dentist would be the best person to evaluate, determine and explain if you are an ideal candidate for the procedure.

The term All-On-4® is a registered trademark of NobelBiocare® Implants. Regardless of the Implant company, the concept is essentially a Full Arch, Implant Retained (FAIR) Prosthesis or teeth. Usually, this is a fixed prosthesis meaning removable by the dentist but not removable by the patient – which most patients desire.

Below, we want to share more of the benefits

Faster placement and recovery

The greatest benefit of this concept is that it gives more options when there is not adequate bone for traditional implant placement. It allows for circumventing complex bone augmentation procedures, and thus the process becomes relatively easier, faster, and economical without compromising quality and predictability of the result.

All-on-4 dental implants require several visits.

On your first visit, we evaluate your mouth to see if you’re a candidate for All-on-4. On the day of surgery, we place the planned implants and provide you with a temporary prosthesis (aka. bridge) - most often a fixed one- to restore your smile, but you are required to follow a strictly soft diet while the implants integrate into your jawbone. Like any surgery, there can be complications and failure – hence the abundance of precautions before, during, and after surgery. If you are a smoker or have uncontrolled diabetes, your risk might be higher for doing this procedure – and we can evaluate and discuss that during your consultation visit.

On your visit following implant integration, we use advanced imaging technology that takes digital impressions of your jaw. We send these impressions to the dental lab, which makes your permanent, customized implant bridge or prosthesis.

When your permanent implant is ready, you return to the office for your final fitting.

Because we’re placing fewer posts into the jaw, the entire process usually allows us to forego bone grafting procedures. With All-on-4 dental implants, you can most often have your new, permanent smile in about six months. If you use traditional dental implants to replace all your teeth, the process can become more complex and expensive and may take up to 12 months or more.

Long-lasting results

All-on-4 dental implants are long-lasting and secure depending on your oral hygiene, oral health maintenance, and overall health. You do need to maintain and continue your regular prescribed dental visits to maintain good oral health.

With All-on-4 dental implants, you don't have to worry about your teeth falling out when talking or eating, unlike dentures, as your teeth are fastened to the implants. These dental implants also help preserve the structure of your jawbone, preventing the bone deterioration you might see in people with traditional dentures.

All-on-4 dental implants restore your smile and improve your overall health. It enhances your self-esteem and well-being, so others tend to reciprocate you favorably. A healthy mouth improves the quality of your life and is the beginning of overall wellness physically, psychologically, emotionally, and socially.
